Cameroon, archaeological project
Capital: Yaoundé, surface: 475 442 km2. The name Cameroon comes from Arabic. It means shrimps. The Portuguese sailors were there in 1472. They noticed the abundance of shrimps in the Wouri river and named it "Rio dos Camarões". Ethnic groups: Cameroon Highlanders, Equatorial Bantu, Kirdi, Fulani, northwestern Bantu.
Archaeological project ran in the area of Djohong with Etienne Zangato (UMR 7055) and sebastien Manem (UCL), located in the Mbere valley. Half survey, half archaeology, this project was focused on studying late prehistory in the eastern part of the plateau of Adamaoua.
