Sultanate of Oman, two archaeological projects
Capital: Muscat, surface: 309 500 km2. In the Sumerian period, the ancient name of Oman was Magan. The sultanate was known for its incense and used to sell it to Mesopotamia, Iran, Egypt, India and Dilmun island. It's an independent monarchy since mid XVIIIth century.
Two archaeological projects ran in Oman (Ra’s al Jinz by Serge Cleuziou/Maurizio Tosi and a survey in Adam with Jessica Giraud/Guillaume Gernez).
